CCCAC Services

o Forensic Interviews- Specially Trained forensic interviewers interview child victims of abuse and/or neglect. A forensic interview is conducted for the purpose of investigation and is videotaped to reduce the number of times a child is questioned during the course of that investigation.

o Child Advocate Services- Child Advocates welcome families to the centers and provide families with necessary resources and referrals to include medical/sexual assault exams, mental health services, Crime Victims Compensation, and other social service needs.

o Red Flag Green Flag Program- CCCAC provides community education using the Red Flag Green Flag Program which teaches awareness on child abuse issues to third graders in Cameron County and the community. The CAC will provide information to community agencies and groups and no cost. If you are interested in this service, please contact the Ruben Serrano at (956) 986-2770 for more information.

o Counseling/Therapy- CCCAC recognizes that abused children are in need of special therapeutic services that are sensitive to issues surrounding sexual abuse and physical abuse, neglect and abandonment. Counselors are on site at both locations, and work closely with multi-disciplinary team members. The Centers are pleased to be able to offer these services free of charge, and welcome children back if, at any time, there is need for further counseling. Therapists are educated on issues of post traumatic trauma that affects abused children at different stages of their social, sexual, and physical development.

o Monica’s Closet & Maggie’s Closet- CCCAC houses maintain the Monica’s and Maggie’s Closets that serve children and families in Cameron County. The Closets is an emergency resource room that provides clothing, shoes, personal hygiene items, diapers, blankets as well as many other things to children in need. Monica’s & Maggie’s Closet also provides school supplies for many children in the Cameron County each school year.

o Multidisciplinary Case Staffings- CCCAC facilitates bi-weekly case staffings between all partner agencies including Child Protective Services, local Law Enforcement, the Cameron County District Attorney's Office, Mental Health professionals and Medical Professionals. The case staffings provide an opportunity for professionals to consult with others on their cases before making critical decisions.
